2004-2005 Coaching Staff Profiles
Mark Jones
Mark played Danvers Youth Hockey for 10 years, Mites
thru Bantams, and went on to play three years of hockey
at Danvers High School. It was when he was a senior
(class of 1981) at DHS that he began his involvement
in DYH. This is Mark's 24th. year of coaching in
the DYH program, and coached his 1000th youth hockey
game
in the middle of 99-00 season. Mark began as an Assistant
Coach with the Pee Wee B team for the 1980-1981 season
and moved up to the Bantam B’s for the 1981-1982
season. After a year off from coaching, he returned
to the PeeWee B’s for the 1983-1984 season. He
began coaching the PeeWee A’s in the 1984-1985
season and is now in his 21st. season with the A's.
Mark received his Advanced Level coaching certification
from USA Hockey in 1996. Mark is also on the board
of directors in DYH and has served as the league Treasurer
and Clerk and is currently the USA Hockey Represenative
as well as the webmaster of the Danvers Youth Hockey
web site.
Mike Conway
Mike has been a coach in the Danvers Youth Hockey program for 5+ years.
Mike began coaching in the DYH LTS program and has been an assistant
coach in all levels from Mites to Midgets. Mike was the Head Coach
of the 2002-2003 Midgets. Mike acquired the Intermediate Level Coaching
Certification from USA Hockey this season.
Ted Kontos
Ted played Danvers Youth Hockey from Squirts to Midgets. He played
3 years for the Danvers High School varsity team and was captain
his senior year (1975-1976). After high school, Ted played 4 years
at Salem State College (1976-1980). He played defense his entire
career except as a junior and senior in college were he played right
wing. After graduating college he coached the Danvers High School
junior varsity hockey team and assisted with the varsity team for
a number of years. Ted has been involved with Danvers Youth Hockey
for 11 years as a coach, board of director and is a former President
and clerk for the program.
Duke St. Pierre
Duke played in the Danvers Youth Hockey program from Pee-Wee to Bantam.
He then went on to a fine 4 year career at Danvers High School where
he was Captain during his senior year. Duke then went on to play
football at Boston College and following his Junior and Senior seasons
of football he walked on and played hockey for B.C. Duke was an assistant
hockey coach at DHS (3 years JV then full time assistant) starting
in 1994 and finishing in 2002. (2 state championship titles during
that time.) He started coaching in the DYH learn to skate program
in 1998 and has coached at all levels, Mite, Squirts, and now the
Pee Wee’s. Duke is a Board of Director in the DYH program and
serves on many committees.
